FOOD SECURITY, A BASIC HUMAN RIGHT, IS AT THREAT IN MARYLAND

During the partial government shutdown, thousands of hardworking federal employees and contractors across Maryland, through no fault of their own, were at risk of hunger. Although this situation may seem unique, it highlights the reality of hunger in America: 40% of Americans are only one paycheck away from poverty.

For the past 40 years, the Maryland Food Bank has been the food assistance safety net that Marylanders have relied on, especially during difficult times like these.

Working alongside our network partners and agencies, we provide nutritious food and support to hundreds of thousands hardworking families, seniors, children, and veterans across our state. And with 1 in 4 Marylanders saying they have been affected by hunger or food insecurity themselves*, hunger is more widespread than you might realize.

We assure you we will do everything possible to make sure our neighbors facing empty tables have access to nutritious food, but we can’t do it without your support.
